From my “batik” (aka poured) collection, a technique demonstrated here by Linda Baker, Leslie Redhead and others. Batik paintings are all about great highlights and shadows; not too precise in color, and with a wild surprise element at the end of a project, when loads of masking agent are stripped from the surface. These are not “a-painting-a-day” projects, but I can work a little bit on a painting each day, and having several in the works at once is a way to keep it moving. Batik is an approach that really challenges the control-freak, photo-realist tendencies.😏
