From my “Batik” (aka poured) collection. This is from a series of 4 paintings of little girls (followed by a series of 4 boys) wearing hats. I guess it was my hat-loving phase... Here they all are:
I know one of the girls personally--lower left is a self portrait. And that little boy in the upper right is my great nephew, totally blown away by his first view of the ocean / beach in N. Carolina!! Using the poured method for portraiture is so very interesting because one must give up the idea of "the right skin tone" in exchange for the right value of light to dark. Overall, this was a memorable experiment in human portraits.
